Chamber Of Commerce

With fifty-six members including businesses, churches, our school and village hall, the Germantown Hills Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) is thriving in our community. Along with our current members, we are excited to welcome Nena′s Ace Hardware and Casey′s to our neighborhood.

Most of our members live and do business in our community. Personally, I have lived in Germantown Hills for over ten years now. My family owns Michael′s Italian Feast and the Monte Cristo Banquet Room. I believe that we live in one of the friendliest communities in the country and our business leaders are very caring people. When tragedy hit last summer for a young boy, Jude Hill, our chamber and community came together to help raise $28,000 to assist with medical expenses. It was amazing to experience the outpouring of love and support for this young family. We have also supported the Junior Achievement Program with a $1500 donation. This organization holds programs at Germantown School grades 3 through 8 teaching students financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.

In September of last year, the GHCC, along with the Metamora Area Business Association, held our annual Mayor′s Prayer Breakfast at Metamora Fields. This event was a great success. Our keynote speaker was Father Greg Jozefiak of St. Mary of Lourdes Church. The recipient of the 2014 GHCC Servant Leadership Award was Dr. Tim Kaufman. This award is given each year to a person who shows ‶extraordinary involvement in the community and values service to others.″ Our Seventh Annual Community Prayer Breakfast was held last month. Pete Hutchinson gave a wonderful keynote address and the Kramer family graced us with their beautiful music again this year. The 2015 Servant Leadership Award went to the family of Arnie Edwards, who recently lost his battle with lymphoma. He will always be remembered by our community as a very unique person with a generous heart who lived his life with a true servant spirit.

In October, along with the Germantown Hills Fire Department, we had our ‶Halloween on the Hill.″ This a great family event, as we have prizes for the kids and the parents, the smoke house and a costume contest.

In May, our GHCC members showed off their cooking skills when they grilled up over 600 pork chop sandwiches! With our vendor fair, the Germantown Hills Garden Club plant sale and community wide garage sales, it was a busy day!. We look forward to the Pork chop cookout event growing in our community and attracting more visitors each year.

In August, we mailed out a magnet with all of our member′s contact information as a gift to you. Thank you for supporting our local businesses!

The GHCC will continue our commitment to improving the quality of life and serving all residents in our community. The GHCC holds monthly meetings, business after hours events, and a social dinner in January.
